5 Qualities and Characteristics of a Fire Blanket

There are many dangers in the world that we live in, but few are as destructive and devastating as fire. As you probably know, fire can consume an entire building in a very quick manner, leaving any occupants inside in mortal danger. Naturally, there have been leaps and bounds in terms of fire safety of the years.

Our homes are now protected by alarms, monitors, and even sprinkler systems, all made specifically to protect against the threat of fire. However, there is one dire protection tool that everyone should know about. That is exactly why we will be looking at five potentially life saving benefits of a fire blanket.

1. Easy to Use

Anyone who enjoys getting cozy inside on a cold, rainy day can use a fire blanket. They are actually incredibly simple and easy to use, so that even children can use a fire blanket, if they need to. Simply drape the blanket over your body, hold it tight around you, and try to be careful as you run to safety.

Naturally, this will not be as obvious to all people, but luckily the blanket is quite easy to learn to use.

2. Guaranteed Protection

Due to the simplicity of its nature, the fire blanket is also incredibly effective. While some fire safety tools, such as the fire extinguisher, may be invaluable in an emergency, they do not always function properly when you desperately need them to. A fire blanket, however, can’t really malfunction in a way that would put anyone in danger.

Of the many ways to use a fire blanket, there aren’t many ways to use it wrongly. This gives the blanket a bit more reliability in emergency situations.

3. General Use

For instance, one can wrap themselves in it in order to shield themselves from flames as they evacuate to safety. They could also use the blanket to simply smother a small fire before it turned into a more severely dangerous issue.

However, a fire blanket is not a magical item and will only briefly shield you from the effects of open flame. To that end, it can only be used to put out appropriately sized fires, as well.

4. Reusable and Washable

Everybody likes a product that can see multiple uses. We should always hope that a fire blanket will never be needed, but if does see use, there is a good possibility that you will be able to use it a few more times before you’ll need a replacement.

Plus, if you feel that the old fire blanket has seen better days, you can always toss it into the washer and get it nice and clean so you can at least store it without worry of it being dirty or unhealthy.

5. Affordable and Convenient

In some cases, emergency equipment that you really need to have in your home can be a bit pricey. The cost of safety is understandable, but it’s always nice when we don’t have to spend quite as much to feel protected at home.
